The short version: they wanted $500 for something I did myself with a $20 part in 30 minutes. They wanted $1600 to do something I accomplished in 10 minutes with a $15 part. They delayed repairing something THEY BROKE for several weeks, which I did myself with a $5 gasket in one minute.

The longer version:
Very smooth presentation. Always showed up precisely on time for my tankless water heater maintenance. However they kept telling me different things and quoted me an insane amount of money to replace units that didn’t need to be replaced. The exact same oily residue was “totally normal” in 2023, but in 2024 it meant I needed a $6000 repair. They also wanted $500 to replace the igniter; this was a $20 part that I was able to easily install myself in 30 minutes with no experience.

Another time, I had a bidet seat I wanted to install but I couldn’t reach the hose under the toilet. I sent them photos for scheduling and they said they could do it. The guy came and quoted me $1,600 to fully remove the toilet and install a new one because he said that was the only option. I ended up finding a $15 part on Amazon (took two minutes) and that worked perfectly. $1,600 vs $15!
During our last water heater maintenance, I saw that the technician spilled a giant puddle of water on the floor and was apparently going to leave it (soaking into the walls) until I asked him to clean it up. Also, he broke a seal and left a leak, which Boston Standard said they’d come back to fix but never did. After nearly a month of waiting for them to fix it, I bought the $5 o-ring on Amazon myself and installed it in one minute.

It’s too bad because their $250 tankless water heater maintenance was the best price I could find, but it’s not worth the savings. I’ll just do it myself or find somebody else.
