Things went well throughout the process, starting with the sales piece. I found the salesman to be honest, knowledgeable, and catering to my style. He was also both patient & responsive, didn’t get bored or short with my questions (which were ongoing over 2 weeks), and responded quickly, always quickly.

Installation went well. I was without heat for 1 or 2 days and the install team brought me 3 powerful space heaters which did the job for my 2300 square feet (I only needed 2 of them). Installation did hit a minor glitch, but they made sure that the basic system was working and I had heat over Xmas week;, they gave me the 1st appointment (Jan 2nd, 8a.m.!) of the new year to resolve the minor lingering details.

After installation, they followed up efficiently with initiating my rebate with Mass Save AND scheduling the QA followup visit. I didn’t have to take the initiative for either of these.

They were recommended by a neighbor who was satisfied with their service (they did say they were a tad on the pricey side), but all 4 of the quotes I got were close in price, so they were very competitive, and given my neighbors recommendation, I chose Boston Standard.

There was a glitch in my loan from Mass Save, and Boston Standard got the necessary people from their finance/accounts receivable and the GM and they helped me resolve my problem….they never said anything like “that’s a problem between you and Mass Save,” etc., etc., they just put their resources on the case to help me.

The only thing I could say that could be improved upon was there wasn’t a lot of info regarding what the ongoing utility costs might be switching from gas to a heat pump. I went online and also wasn’t able to find anything. All I could find (from the utility companies, Mass Save, and independent articles) was that the electric heat pump was much more efficient than electric heat, but no information was available regarding expected costs when switching to electric.

Two weeks after installing they came and spent 3 hours double checking all aspects of the system, fine tuning.

All appointments were kept and on time and I got text messages an hour before they showed up, each time (I think a total of 6 visits… all on time).

And finally, I liked that they were located in a city neighborhood in my section of Boston and doing their part to support the neighborhood economy.

I was very satisfied.
