I hired Boston Standard to recommend and install a whole-house heat pump system in my 100 year old house. The person who came to inspect the house and develop proposals was the only one (out of many companies I contacted) to be straightforward about mini-splits not being optimal in this house due to its configuration of many small rooms, and who discussed “Manual J”. He gave me multiple options and reviewed them all with me. The installation team was hardworking, careful, and prompt each day as well as being super pleasant. My old house required a lot of patience, ability to work in tight spaces, careful execution, and creative thinking to fit the ducts and vents, especially in the cellar and the team met the challenge. When a particular vent required hours of creative fabricating to hand-build a vent around a support beam, they took the time to do it right. The team was smart about placing elements in the least obtrusive places possible. Their daily clean-up was extraordinary. I was very impressed.
