Furnace Repair & Maintenance Service in Boston

How important is a working furnace during frigid Boston winters? Pretty essential, right? The last thing you want on a freezing winter evening is for the furnace to stop working—or worse, to emit carbon monoxide or cause a fire hazard.

More than 65% of Massachusetts residents use natural gas or oil to heat their homes. Old gas or oil furnaces require the most amount of attention and care to make sure they keep running like they should.

You can prevent any major disruptions to your furnace system by scheduling regular preventative maintenance before the cold season hits. If your furnace does need repair, Boston Standard Company can inspect and diagnose, then fix or replace the broken parts.

Whether your Boston furnace is powered by natural gas or heat pump technology, we can fix it. Forced hot water, steam, forced hot air, radiant heating and radiators, as well as any other type of hydronic heat, are our specialties. Our goal is to make sure you stay warm and cozy (and safe) all through the winter months.

Remember, we’re The Company You Count On to keep your furnace working properly at all times.

After having a well-known national company look at my furnace that wasn’t heating correctly, I was told after 5 minutes of diagnostics that it was “unsalvageable” and I would immediately need a new furnace and AC unit. I connected with Joe at Boston Standard for a second opinion, we talked about what could be the problem and he promptly sent out one of his technicians. Caesar showed up within 15 minutes, took a look at the furnace and was able to fix it with a simple drain of a condensate hose. He then walked me, in plain terms, what the issue was and what to keep an eye on going forward. Both Caesar and Joe were incredibly prompt, courteous, and professional.

Boston Standard was a lifesaver! I’d been in my new home for less than two months when the furnace gave out. Of all the service providers I called, they were the most responsive and sounded genuinely concerned about my problem.

Boston Standard has always been responsive whenever I have called them, and unfortunately I have had to call them a lot over AC and furnace issues. They responded in a timely manner and when there was a difficult problem they stayed with it until it was resolved to my satisfaction. I have faith and trust in their technicians. I have retained them to do maintenance on my boiler, AC and furnace.

Answers to Common Furnace Repair & Maintenance Questions

How much should a furnace tune up cost?

A furnace tune up might cost anywhere between $175 and $500, depending on your location and type of furnace.

How many years should a furnace last?

A typical gas furnace can be expected to last around 15 years, depending on frequency of use, frequency of maintenance and other factors. Some furnaces may last up to 30 or 40 years, but this is rare. Scheduling routine furnace maintenance and catching problems early can help extend the lifespan of your furnace.

Can a furnace start a fire?

There are three things that could potentially start a furnace fire: a blocked filter, high gas pressure, or a cracked heat exchanger. A flame rollout is unlikely when air filters are changed regularly, furnace is kept clear of obstructions, a rollout safety device is present, and annual maintenance is performed on the furnace.
